WHAT’S HAPPENING AT SEMINOLE SOCCER COMPLEX THIS WEEKEND?

GAMES
This is a weekend with few games, so let me take the opportunity to share with you some other going’s on at OCYS.  Boys ECNL and FPL teams are home as well as a few GCF games.
THANK YOU
Thank you to you all for making OC Cup a success. From Field Marshals to Concession volunteers to the set up and breakdown crews we hosted games across 4 different sites over two days. Overall it was a smooth tournament for all teams involved. Pictures of the event are posted on our Facebook page. Tag yourself and submit your own to Laura at lhalfpenny@orlandocityyouth.org
Thank you to all sponsors and partners Liam Fitzpatrick's Restaurant and Irish Pub, Cocina 214Andy's Frozen Custard (Sanford, Florida) Gustavo Martinez for the inflatables and fun spot, Audi North Orlando and the test drives, Quik Pix Sports and Harbor Photography.
NEW WEBSITE
Look out for our new registration portal and website coming 11.1.2018.
COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS
I hope you have noticed around the complex our 2018-2019 Core Values have been placed Commitment, Integrity, Teamwork, You (ownership/responsibility). The Acronym is CITY. These are principles that we teach and operate by. You’ll notice a few announcements in the next month about community service projects. We are committed to teaching our players these values not just through play but through other means too.
First of all the Kids House Thanksgiving Baskets. Kids House is a Community Support Facility that support families in times of transition. Last year we were able to give 31 baskets to families and they were able to have a Thanksgiving that many take for granted. Look for an email from Elizabeth Santiago.
FACILITY NOTICE
We are preparing for the winter season. This means as the Bermuda enters its dormant stage (winter) we lay a winter ryegrass to protect it and maintain a playing surface. This seeding occurs when the ground is cooler usually in November and takes 3 weeks to germinate and grow. For this reason the complex closes. Prior to rye seeding will spray for various weeds and undesirable turfs. You’ll notice in the next few weeks some yellowing on the fields. The yellowing is the nasty stuff dying off and is a good sign.
NOTES & BENEFITS FROM OUR SPONSORS
We began a facility sponsorship program in 2018-19 to engage with local businesses and organizations and raise funds for the facility. Our Sponsors and partners provide opportunities for our club members. Each week we will bring you information about these businesses.
The British American Chamber, a longtime charitable partner of the Club, offers access to a benefits program that gives its members telemedicine, legal & tax services, roadside assistance, pet services, identity protection and more. They offer OCYS members a discount using the code OCYS10. Check it out here
Cocina 214 offers its OCYS club members 10% if you dine at its Winter Park or Daytona Locations.
