The OCSS - Seminole '07 ECNL girls team qualified for the Champions League after an outstanding first full year at the ECNL National level. The girls will compete in the prestigious tournament July 1 – 4 in Lakewood Ranch, FL; taking on national powerhouses Saint Louis Gallagher (Missouri), Loudon (Virginia), and San Diego Surf (California) during the tournament.
The team qualified for the tournament by finishing 3rd in the Southeast Conference in only their second year in ECNL; the first of which was largely lost to COVID. Across 9 league games, they dropped only one defeat during a spring season that saw them compete against the top clubs in the region. In addition to finishing third in league play, this group found success in tournaments - winning 3 tournaments throughout the spring. The girls took home the championships at the Vero Beach, Jacksonville, and Tampa tournaments.
The team is coached by Robbie Gobble, who is in his 8th year with the club.
“I’m extremely proud of this talented group of girls,” said Gobble, who also serves as Girl’s Sr. Director at OCSS – Seminole. “All 16 players on the team showed their heart and talents this season and I’m confident it is just the beginning for them. We have a lot of leaders and competitors on this team and they are driven to compete against the top teams in the country. I have no doubt they’ll succeed and represent our club well.”
In addition to the 07 ECNL team, the 04, 05, and 06 ECNL teams will be competing in Bradenton in the ECNL Showcase and Open Cup brackets in the first week of July. Our Girls ECNL teams have worked very hard to get here and are excited to play in such a big event. This will be one of the first times in over a year where the players can showcase their abilities in front of college coaches in person. They are ready to represent themselves and the club well.
The ECNL coaching staff of Dan Nolan, Chuck Green, Craig Melton, and Robbie Gobble are extremely proud of these girls and have enjoyed a great year of coaching these players. The players make this club what it is, and we are excited to continue watching them perform at the highest level. Good Luck to all the teams!
